Our Commitment to Sustainability
At Denholm, sustainability is woven into the way we operate. We are focused on reducing our environmental impact, modernising our operations, and ensuring our teams have the tools and systems they need to work safely, efficiently, and responsibly.
Our approach combines transparency, innovation, and continuous improvement -supporting both immediate progress and long-term resilience.
Emissions & Transparency
We currently monitor and disclose our Scope 1 (direct) and Scope 2 (indirect) greenhouse gas emissions as a core part of our environmental performance reporting. We are continuing to develop and enhance the quality and coverage of this data to gain a more comprehensive understanding of our environmental footprint. By doing so, we aim to support greater transparency, drive accountability, and demonstrate our commitment to responsible and sustainable operations.
Smarter, Cleaner Technologies
Technology plays a vital role in reducing our environmental impact and improving safety. Where possible, we are transitioning to electric plant and digital systems that streamline operations and cut emissions. Our partnership with Qlayers is one example-minimising overspray, reducing environmental impact, and removing the need for working at height. This supports safer working conditions and more efficient project delivery.
Modernising Our Operations
Across our sites, we’re updating everyday processes to make them simpler, safer, and more sustainable. This includes:
- Recycling schemes across key locations
- Reduced paper usage through app-based platforms such as Workwallet
- Recyclable shrink wrap introduced at Portsmouth, with further sustainable materials under review
These improvements help us reduce waste, increase efficiency, and support responsible site management.
Responsible Sourcing
We aim to work with local and sustainable suppliers wherever possible. Regular supply chain reviews help us identify opportunities for enhanced auditing, encourage alignment with DIS values, and promote continual improvement. ESG considerations also feature in our annual quality reviews to ensure responsible sourcing remains part of our long-term strategy.
Energy & Facilities
Our sites are powered by renewable energy, reflecting our commitment to cleaner, healthier working environments. Planned energy audits will help us pinpoint further opportunities for energy reductions and strengthen the resilience of our facilities.
Fleet & Transport
A full review of the DIS fleet is underway to identify opportunities for electrification, greater efficiency, and improved utilisation. We have already introduced vehicle trackers, giving real-time insights that support safer driving practices, lower emissions, and more efficient use of our fleet.
Social
We believe strong businesses are built on strong relationships. We’re committed to creating a positive social impact by supporting our people, partners and communities.
Governance
Denholm Industrial Services is committed to the highest standards of ethical conduct, transparency and accountability. Our governance framework supports responsible decision‑making and ensures compliance with legislation and Group policies, including those relating to bribery and corruption and modern slavery.
We extend these expectations to our supply chain, working with suppliers and partners who share our commitment to ethical business practices, human rights and legal compliance. Our policies and controls are regularly reviewed to ensure continued alignment with best practice and regulatory requirements.
