DIS sets new benchmark in marine coatings with landmark SeaRose Project
Denholm Industrial Services (DIS), in collaboration with Qlayers, has successfully delivered the SeaRose Project – marking a significant milestone for the UK marine sector and reinforcing DIS’s position as a leader in large-scale marine coatings and infrastructure solutions.
The project involved an extensive programme of works, including blast and paint application across an impressive 72,115 square metres. Notably, the SeaRose Project also saw the marine industry’s first use of an automated spray robot to apply 30,000 square metres of holding primer – demonstrating DIS’s commitment to embracing innovative technologies that improve efficiency, consistency, and safety.
Alongside coating operations, the team completed the filtration of 2,500 tonnes of water generated through ultra-high-pressure paint removal processes. Supporting the scale and complexity of the project, DIS supplied, erected, and dismantled 3,500 tonnes of scaffolding, transported to site via 350 articulated lorries. A further 8,000 crane lifts were required to position materials, while 30,000 square metres of environmental containment ensured strict control and protection throughout the works.
Delivered over an eight-month period, the project recorded an outstanding 560,227 operative hours, with a dedicated workforce of more than 300 personnel contributing to its success.
The SeaRose Project represents the largest marine vessel ever undertaken by Denholm Industrial Services, showcasing the company’s capability to deliver highly complex, large-scale marine projects with precision, innovation, and a strong focus on safety and environmental responsibility.
